Michael Sachs
Chairman
Michael has spent his career in the healthcare industry, developing healthcare data and information companies and insurance services companies. He was the founder of The Sachs Group, bSwift, and Sg2, all of which were purchased by leading corporations between 1999 and 2014. He is actively working with healthcare startups and early stage companies in a number of industries. He began his healthcare career as a paramedic, served as an administrator at Hurley Medical Center in Flint, Michigan, and was a consultant at A.T. Kearney and Ernst and Whinney in Chicago.
Michael earned a B.A. in science and an M.S.P.H. in health management from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He is active with a number of community organizations across the U.S., including hospitals in Jupiter, Florida, Los Angeles, and Chicago. He serves on numerous Boards of Directors of private companies and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Ounce of Prevention in Chicago.
He is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, YPO Gold and CEO (Chief Executives Organization). He has adult children who reside in Chicago and Boulder, Colorado. He and his wife live in Palm Beach, Florida, Winnetka, Illinois, and Bel Air, California.
Mike Burke
Executive VP & CFO
Mike brings over 30 years of broad-based financial expertise to TLSG including experience with mergers and acquisitions, strategic planning and financial analysis and reporting.
Throughout his career he has been actively involved in building and growing several companies in the healthcare information field. Most recently, Mike led the overall financial and administrative functions of Sg2 as its Chief Financial Officer.
He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where as a senior manager, he worked with a wide range of public and private companies.
Mike is a Certified Public Accountant, and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Illinois CPA society. He received his BS in Accounting from Northern Illinois University, where he was a 2-time NCAA Gymnastics Champion. Mike lives in Lake Forest, IL with his wife. He has adult children who reside in Naples, FL and Chicago, IL.
Steven Lefar
Managing Partner
Steve is an accomplished executive with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare with expertise in strategy, analytics and software.
In addition to his position at TLSG, Steve is currently CEO of Applied Pathways, acquired August 2017 by AIM Healthcare. Prior to Applied, he was CEO of healthcare market intelligence, consulting and analytics firm Sg2 (acquired by MedAssets in 2015) and President of MediRegs (acquired by WoltersKluwer in 2007). Steve earned a BA in economics from the University of Michigan in 1988.
Steve was an elected board member for 10 years on the National Blue Ribbon award winning Aptakisic Tripp School District in Buffalo Grove, IL. He also served on the board of the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation of Chicago for 6 years and is currently a board member of Evive Health.
Steve and his wife, Julie, and daughter, Carly, live in Buffalo Grove, IL. They love the outdoors and enjoy cycling, hiking and skiing.
